From the SGA Legislative Budget Office:

What is the cosponsorship reviewal process like? The cosponsorship reviewal process starts with the LBO assistants reviewing the requests to make sure it complies with our bylaws. It is then presented to the finance committee who voted on what request gets funded, if at all. Then the LBO adjusts and approves the request on Engage that same night.

What's the difference between the LBO and the purchase desk? The LBO is where you go to ask for funding. We review your request and decide how much to allocate you. The purchase desk is where you go to use that funding. They do not allocate you extra funds, they just help use the funds we have allocated to you. If you have questions related to the request itself, bylaws, the finance committee, and funding deliberation and approval, please reach out to the LBO. If you have questions related to purchases, reimbursements, revenue, and returns, please contact the Org Help Finance Purchase Desk.

How do I submit a co-sponsorship request? You can submit a request via your org’s engage page. Hit the Budget Request tab and fill out all the information. Step-by-step instructions are available on the "Applying for Funding" page. For General Allocations Requests, we will hold an optional training session to walk through it.

What's the timeline for a co-sponsorship request? 14 business days before your event occurs.

What is the difference between a general allocation and co-sponsorship? The general allocation request is a once only request per semester focused on pre planned events and durable goods. The co-sponsorship request is open throughout the entirety of the semester and is reviewed weekly on Wednesdays and is for last minute/extra supplies and events funding.

What is the GA and budget process? The GA budget process is a semi-annual process where orgs can submit a budget request for more long term/pre planned events/items. You submit the request the semester before the funding is needed. It is a semester long process with trainings, deliberations, adjustments, explanations, appeals, denials, and approvals.

Why was my request reduced? Your request was reduced for one or more of these reasons; 1) your request went against our bylaws and we had to adjust it to comply with our bylaws. 2) your request did not fall within our tier system of prioritizing funding. 3) your request is not pertinent to the existence of your org and we prioritized items that were.

What is the LBO/ what do they do/ responsibilities? The LBO is responsible for reviewing requests and adjusting them based on bylaw restrictions. Compiling information from requests that are important for deciding on how much to fund a request. Providing training sessions for the financial process. Carrying out the General Allocations Process, Reclamations Process, and weekly Co-sponsorship process.
